New Year, New You?

There are so many books and so many authors making promises, where can a reader find trustworthy health and diet information?

A good place to start is Joel Fuhrman’s Eat to Live which has been recognized as a useful tool for getting good, nutritional foods into your diet while helping you lose weight. Fuhrman appears on PBS stations with this message quite regularly. Another doctor whose books appear regularly on the best seller lists is Andrew Weil and his latest book is titled True Food. It features recipes devised by Weil along with restauranteur Sam Fox and Chef Michael Stebner for their healthy eating restaurants called True Food Kitchen. Their goal is to create tasty food that helps promote wellbeing.

While many of the food books are aimed towards dieters, there are also quite a few of the recent books that provide links between choosing the right foods for promoting the body’s overall health. Fuhrman’s book is one of the best known but here are some others to consider: Clean: The Revolutionary Program to Restore the Body’s Natural Ability to Heal Itself by Alejandro Junger. This book outlines a program to follow over the course of several weeks in order to cleanse your body (and mind) while also developing a taste for healthy alternative foods and juices. Another book which promises some specific improvements to body health is Clean Cuisine by Ivy and Andrew Larson. Follow their 8-week program to reverse diabetes, improve cholesterol and blood pressure and relieve symptoms of other inflammatory diseases.

There are so many books to choose from that it is best to come to the library and look at several of these books. Then you can choose the book that you find most appealing in terms of writing style and message. Check out these titles at:
