Before school gets into full swing and summer fades to memory we want to take a moment not only to celebrate all of the children and parents who participated in Summer Reading 2013 (participation was off the charts this year!), but also to give a shout out to the amazing talent displayed in the winning entries for 2013 WRITE ON Teen Short Story Contest.
WRITE ON is an annual contest open to teens aged 12-18. Winners are selected for two age categories, 12-14 and 15-18, and are awarded gift certificates to bookstores.
We are excited to announce our 2013 winners:

For our contest, we asked local area teens to write an original short story based on a photograph by Bainbridge Island teen Christine Moehring (see photo above). The entries were judged anonymously by KRL Youth Services Librarians.
We are excited to have so many talented, creative and intelligent teens in Kitsap County, and especially honored that so many of them participated in WRITE ON. It was an absolute treat to read their work, and we hope that all of them continue writing. It is incredibly important to keep developing and expressing creativity and this contest is just one of the many ways to do so.
Congratulations to our 2013 WRITE ON winners, and to all participants for such great submissions!
